However, up to now, 3D culture technology is still limited in some limited laboratories and has not been mastered and used by the majority of biological and medical researchers. Can 3D culture be as simple as 2D culture and become a routine method in biochemical laboratory? At present, 2D cell culture has formed a set of nearly standard processes from culture to post-processing and characterization, which is the fundamental reason why 2D culture is so popular.
Recently, EFL published in the Bio-Designand Manufacturing journal entitled Facile 3D cell culture protocolbased on photocurable hydrogels on, gave a light based hydrogel based lightweight cell culture program, Dr. Xie Mingjun as the first author, Professor He Yong as the communications author. Researchers have implemented simple, quantified and controllable 3D cell culture through a series of tools including several types of photocurable hydrogels, curing rings, controllable light sources and hydrogel lysates.
